Pastures are always greener on the other side

Have you noticed that kids never want or treasure what they have in their hands...be it food or toys or anything else? They will always crave and want what their friends have. Helena does that...when she sees us eating, she'll want our food...when she sees another kid with a toy, she'll drop hers and wants to take the other.

I believe this is basic human behaviour. Yes, we try to curb ourselves from displaying such feelings or behaviour when we are older but deep down inside, we still feel like that. Actually it gets worse when we are older. Not only we revel in such thoughts in material possessions, such emotions are also present in human relationships. A couple of good friends and I were talking about relationships, marriage and affairs the other day. We all came to a conclusion - people go into affairs not because they cannot help themselves. People go into affairs because they want it to happen. There is no such things as "I cannot help myself" or "I was seduced".....it happened because deep down inside they want it to happen. They want it because they want to have a taste or feel of another person. The one at home is never sexy enough or the one at home is never gentle enough....the one outside is always better....We also came to a conclusion. That men at a certain age (rule of thumb is about the late 30s to early 40s) will definitely get themselves into an affair. Even if the ultimate act did not materialise, the thought will definitely be their minds. It's just in the DNA. In human behaviour. The crave for something new, the want for somebody else's possession.

I have linked this entry to Earth Squatter's latest entry on 人就是那么贱. I believe this is true. People are just so at times. The one we cannot have it is always the sweetest, the most beautiful and the best.....
